Presenter Notes

  • What the Jesus Film learned during the past 1+ year:
    • teams managed face challenges through the “chain of command”;
    • teams don’t understand how to do digital ministry and needs further training;
    • teams don’t understand real-time ministry and what to do with seekers online;
    • teams don’t understand the user experience of how a guest goes through the experience; and
    • everyone wants to contextualize journeys differently – tool didn’t scale to empower teams.
  • NextSteps is a video journey builder platform that allows partners to offer their audiences a relevant next step to discover or follow Christ.
  • To help launch teams into digital ministry, our key value is we need to do this with the field and not for the field.

Q&A and Discussion

  • Where is this hosted? It will be on Amazon. Building this on a component services architecture will allow us to add some other types of integration that we are looking to build like chat that you might use or CRMs that we can feed into. So it’s an open architecture that we might be able to expand and grow.
  • Is there a reporting dashboard or metrics? Right now, we’re focusing on interviewing creators, how they can use the tool and making it work in a way that works for them. The reporting dashboard and metrics are important but we’re a little behind on this.
  • Who will have access to the data collected? Essentially, we will be GDPR compliant. Platform owners will have access to the data as well as administrators who will be using the platform. Sharing of data will be conducted under required permissions.
  • Will authorities in a local country be able to tie this back to a faith-based organization? We have not had any issue with the video serving platform we’ve used even in some of the more secure countries. The other part like the domains and everything are registered to a non-Christian organization.
  • What’s the process for onboarding? Right now, we are looking at the end of this quarter to be an early beta with some early adopters. So it’s currently in the initial development phase. Mid this year we are going to be releasing with some early beta testers with the hope of rolling it out more firmly to a wide audience towards the end of the year.
  • Can a team add branding throughout? Yes. We continue to listen to people who will use the platforms and hear what will suit to their needs.
  • How can seekers get to the platform? We built this in a way that can run wholistically inside Facebook. It comes down to the tool user and how they want to publish it. Our goal is to connect viewers with people in real-time.
  • Can I serve it up on my website – like in an iframe or similar? Yes, you will be able to embed it on your website. We’re looking into other integrations too.
  • Would the available content be limited to what is in the J Film library or can we incorporate our own contextualized content? You can take anything from YouTube or the Archive, we don’t really mind. You will be able to use your own content also.
