Presenter Notes

Web 3.0 has a strong emphasis on no intermediaries, decentralized applications and make use of AI, machine learning and blockchain-based technologies.

  • The idea of Web 1.o is that everybody is a producer. It is a read-only web that focuses on helping to find information.
  •  Web 2.0 is where we’re at right now and the key here is that these are centralized. It emphasizes user-generated content that focuses on participating and contributing.
  • Web 3.0 is highly decentralized, open and has more user utility. This web interaction and utilization moves users away from centralized platforms towards decentralized, nearly anonymous platforms.
  • Key 1: Artificial Intelligence – computers now can understand information like a human being with the ability of natural language processing.
  • Key 2: Ubiquity – every device will be connected to the network. Content can be accessible by various applications.
  • Key 3: Enhanced Connectivity – Web 3.0 uses semantic metadata to provide users better connectivity.
  • Key 4: Peer-to-Peer Network – A decentralized network that dissolves the need for a centralized authority.
  • Key 5: 3D Graphics – utilizing virtual reality, more realistic and natural looking graphics are extensively used.
  • Key 6: Semantic Web – better understands contents web rather than focusing on keywords and numeric values.
  • Possible Uses & Benefits of Web 3.0 includes AI-Chatbots, security, ad creation and personalization, data analysis using machine learning, data sovereignty, automation and innovation, immersive or 360 interactive video and secure financial transfers.

Q&A and Discussion

  • What does DAP mean? Decentralized Applications (dApps)
  • How do we need to adjust our content to be effective on 3.0? For content creators, I would be looking into ARVR and the immersive types of video contents. For marketers look into data, machine learning and the algorithms to work into your advantage. For Data privacy and security such as PII, get updated into following the rules and not getting your account shut down and letting the algorithms work into your own benefit instead of against you.
  • What about natural language models and content creation?
    • AI-driven natural language processing would allow for full leveled conversation.
    • Like the data conversation, the underlying variable or proximity for the rate of which an NLP is progressing is the data sets. NLP is going to be a game changer.
    • Now is the moment for us, people of faith, to be diving in. The tidal wave is clearly kind for VR, AR, NLP, identity, and data within Web 3.0. There are exciting business models left and right and there’s going to be huge multiplication in the Kingdom.
  • How do we tell stories or create content in Web 3.0? I love 360 b-rolls with a voice over testimony. The longer a person engages with the b-roll, the more they are possible to re-target. At a low-tech level, just doing 360 cameras could be one. The gamification and the ability to bring in interactive elements into our 360 immersive video is where I see things going.
  • How can we use all these to bring people to Christ? The goal would be to create places and processes whereby people can naturally journey in the safe way. It is not so much bringing them to Christ but leading them or walking with them towards Christ. Media can do a number of things, but it doesn’t convert.
  • How far is this out for most of the general population of unreached people groups using these? It could be far out but it’s going to come. Technology is going to become as cheap and as prevalent as what you are seeing with cellphones. We must be thinking ahead instead of reacting.
